The Free Website Audit — the wedge that converts strangers → cash

The Free Website Audit — Rio's conversion wedge

source: notes/free-audit-system.mdactivecreated 2026-06-03

This is the Lee playbook ("show value before you pitch") turned into a repeatable engine. It's the SAME conversion mechanism behind all three of Rio's channels: cold outreach, the IG audit-DM funnel, and the Meta Ads Library tactic. Master this one move and every channel converts better. Ties directly to the $10K sprint: an audit = a warm lead = a call = a close.

Why the audit works

The 10-minute audit checklist (what Rio actually checks)

Run these on the prospect's live site. Goal: find 3-5 concrete, fixable problems that cost them customers. Specific > comprehensive.

  1. Speed / performance — run their URL through PageSpeed Insights. Note the mobile score + load time. A score under ~50 or a big unoptimized hero image = a real, screenshot-able number. ("Your site scores 34/100 on mobile, that's customers bouncing before it loads.")
  2. Mobile experience — open it on your phone. Is it responsive? Tap targets too small? Text unreadable? Most local-biz traffic is mobile.
  3. The conversion path — can a visitor book / call / contact in ONE obvious step above the fold? Or is the CTA buried / missing / a generic form with no urgency? For service biz, no clear "Book / Call now" = leaking leads.
  4. SEO basics — title tag, meta description, does it show up when you Google "[their service] [their city]"? Missing/duplicate titles, no Google Business connection, page 3+ ranking = invisibility.
  5. Trust signals — real photos vs stock, reviews/testimonials visible, is the design current or dated/template-y? Dated site on an established business = credibility gap.
  6. The "is it even theirs" check — Wix/Squarespace/GoDaddy template? No SSL (http not https)? Broken links/images? Outdated copyright year? Each is a cheap, visible win.
  7. (If they run ads — Meta-ads channel) — where does the ad send traffic? If it dumps to a homepage or FB page instead of a dedicated landing page, that's a direct ad-spend leak. The strongest pitch there is.

How to deliver it (ranked by conversion)

  1. Loom video walkthrough (highest converting) — 2-3 min screen-record of you on their site pointing out the 3-5 problems, warm and specific. Feels personal, proves expertise, hard to ignore. End with: "happy to fix all this, want to see what I'd build?" Send the Loom link in the cold email / DM.
  2. Quick written rundown — 3-5 bullets in the DM/email. Faster to produce, lower converting than Loom but scales. Use for first-touch volume.
  3. Live, on a call — share screen, walk it. Highest trust, but requires the call already booked.

The bridge: audit → close (the script)

After they engage with the audit:

"So those are the main things costing you [customers / booked jobs / patients] right now. I build custom sites for [niche] businesses that fix exactly this. Just shipped one for a landscaper here in Miami. Want me to put together what I'd build for [Business]?"

→ if yes: book the call (or go straight to the quote if it's warm). Then templates/proposal-quote-template.md → deposit.

Rules

Quick-start

Build ONE reusable Loom audit template (intro → 5-point walkthrough → soft close), do it once on a random local site to nail the flow, then run it on every prospect. ~10 min per audit once the format's locked. This is the single highest-leverage repeatable action toward the $10K goal because it converts across all three channels at once.

The Loom audit script (reusable — fill in their specifics)

Record 2-3 min, screen-sharing their live site + a PageSpeed tab. Talk like the Alexis quote: direct, confident, real. No buzzwords.

0:00 Intro (10 sec) — name them, set the frame:

"Hey [Name], Rio here. I build websites for [niche] businesses and I came across [Business], so I did a quick free run-through of your site. Couple things jumped out that are probably costing you [customers/booked jobs/patients]. Let me show you."

0:10 Problem 1 — the headline weakness (their specific hook):

"First thing, [the exact issue from their scout entry — e.g., 'this review counter is broken, it says 0 plus right next to 150 five-star reviews']. That's your strongest selling point showing up as a glitch."

Problems 2-4 — walk the checklist live (speed, mobile, booking/CTA, trust):

"Second, I ran you through Google's speed test, you're at [X]/100 on mobile, that's people leaving before it loads." "Third, on my phone here [show it], [mobile/CTA issue]." "And there's no obvious way to [book/call] in one tap, so you're losing the people who would've."

Close (20 sec) — soft, value-first:

"None of this is hard to fix. I build custom sites for [niche] businesses, just shipped one for a [landscaper/business] here in Miami. If you want, I'll put together what I'd build for [Business], no pressure. Just reply and I'll send it over."

Rules: real PageSpeed number (run it first), real findings only, 3-5 problems max (specific beats exhaustive), end on the soft offer not a hard pitch. Then bridge → call → templates/proposal-quote-template.md → deposit.
